Vision Statement
I strive to think laterally and reflect upon the world in relentless pursuit of truth. I desire to be aware of the connections that surround me, to learn deeply from my experiences, and to become perpetually wiser, all in the name of personal growth and sharing new perspectives with others.
About Alex
I’m a sophomore at Stanford University, and I’m designing my own engineering major called Digital Product Design. I intend to graduate with knowledge of both designing and engineering mobile and web apps.
I grew up in Los Gatos, CA, where I spent most of my time playing sports - I dabbled in baseball and rugby before sinking my teeth into wrestling and the demanding lifestyle it required. I wrestled for nine years, and then I got recruited to Stanford. After dealing with three unfortunate tears in my left meniscus and two consequent surgeries, I recognized that wrestling was no longer a sustainable option for my body. I stepped away from the sport as a result.
Optimistically, I understood the situation as an opportunity to understand other parts of my identity: a necessary process long overdue.
Looking inward, I discovered a burning desire to express myself through creation. Committing to a radical transition away from a pre-med trajectory, I started to take product design classes in Stanford's d.school. Since then, I've come to understand what it means to align my actions with my most sincere interests, and the feeling of being truly alive that comes with it. Now, I feel a deep sense of purpose: to channel my skills, interests, and connections for the greater good of humanity.
Throughout my career, I intend to wield the instruments of human-centered design, technology, and entrepreneurship in unconventional ways to lead others toward spiritually meaningful and fulfilling lives.
